Training for people with elderly relatives
One of the special services offered by Corinium Care is our training for people with elderly relatives, designed to provide invaluable help with parents or a partner.
When a relative grows frail and vulnerable, it is often difficult for those closest to them to adjust to the inevitable change that takes place in their relationship.
How should a son or daughter, for example, deal with the emotional confusion and physical challenges which become part and parcel of their mother or father's everyday life?
They are not full-time carers, but have reached a stage in their life when their parents are increasingly reliant on them for emotional and practical support, and they are uncertain what to do for the best.
The aim of the Relatives’ Training Day is to give families the confidence to deal with ageing parents or partners who succumb to physical frailty, forgetfulness, and the early signs of dementia.
The one-day courses for relatives take place at Corinium Care’s offices in George Street, Nailsworth.
They include guidance on how to communicate with someone with dementia, training in first aid and moving and handling.
At Corinium Care, we teach people how to cope with the uncertainties that the increasing frailty of their parents brings. Looking after an elderly relative can be a huge worry. Training can help allay those fears and give the rest of the family confidence.
